InDesign documents aren't strictly calibrated to CMYK or RGB until export. They are a collection of elements profiled to both spaces and it tries to display them as accurately as it can relevant to the working RGB space for monitor presentation. So using RGB space images in the document and exporting as an RGB jpeg shouldn't see massive color
Jan 20, 2021. The Color Settings handles your color preferences for future documents. An existing document’s native colors and swatches are color managed by the assigned profiles (Edit>Assign Profiles), which could be different than the Color Settings’ Working RGB and CMYK profiles. If the InDesign document has no profile assignments the It might not be the end of the world to leave them RGB and have the printer convert to CMYK. The color won't be identical but it might not be a huge deal depending on what you're using it for. People say to convert RGB to CMYK before printing but that's only to ensure you get 100% accurate colors.
Feb 25, 2015 at 18:59. What I actually did is just going to the first page, drawing a rectangle, clicking on gradient swatch to assign fill color, and then repeat the same thing on the second page. So there is hardly a reason for different color modes / other swatches to be present. But seemingly in the exported file colors look the same, but
Choose Preflight. Click the Single Fixups button. In the Convert Colors fixups, choose Convert Registration Color to CMYK Black Only. Click Analyze and Fix. You’ll be prompted to Save the PDF. Before applying the fixup, printer’s marks are 4-color. After applying the fixup, printer’s marks are pure black. in InDesign , Prepress by James

In my experience with China they mix Pantone spot colors with Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black instead of using Pantone specific colors. So it is always good, at least for me, to set the Pantone spot colors in the correct CMYK colors. You still can lookup the colors online to find the correct composition.

To check whether your design is in CMYK or RGB, you should refer to the Color panel. Here’s how to do it: Assuming that InDesign is active and that you have an open project, click on the Window tab in the Main menu. Next, select the Color option from the drop-down menu. Select Color again.
If you want to color manage the conversion of an HTML hex color to the closest FOGRA39 CMYK version of the color (#FF5050 is out-of-gamut to most CMYK spaces), set the InDesign source RGB profile to sRGB (modern web browsers display HTML hex values as sRGB) and the destination CMYK profile to FOGRA39 via Edit>Assign Profiles.
1 Correct answer. The top color is an RGB color that is out-of-gamut to most CMYK color spaces and is not printable. If you have any transparent object on a spread and your Transparency Blend Space is set to CMYK, the RGB color will preview inside of the document’s CMYK space. Same will happen if you turn on Overprint Preview with the blend
Why does Indesign automatically change my CMYK document to RGB. I had an image that I image traced in illustrator because it was not of good quality. It was a simple black and white image with no other colors. When I image traced it i tried everything to change the black color to 60-40-40-100 but it would not keep that color selection I wanted.
Find the RGB color in the Swatches panel, double click, and change to CMYK; Everywhere that color changes to CMYK and so also in the Table fills. Votes 0 Upvote

Inside the IDML file, you can open the Resources folder and edit the Graphic.xml file. Near the top, you’ll find the definition of Black, which in this case is set to RGB: You can change this to Space="CMYK" and ColorValue=“0 0 0 100”. Then save that, and open the Preferences.xml file, and search for the word “Intent”.
Just note that if the document’s Intent is Web you can still turn on Overprint Preview, or create CMYK swatches and colors—the Web Intent initially sets the default swatches and Transparency Blend Space to RGB, but any InDesign document lets you mix RGB, CMYK, and Lab colors, or change the blend space.

You need to go File > Export. Then select PDF. In the PDF export settings you'll have to select the 'Output' tab. Here it becomes important what you select (depending on the colors you want in your resulting PDF). For CMYK only, select 'Convert to Destination (Preserve Numbers)'.

Community Expert , Feb 05, 2022. Also—with the text selected—check the Color panel. It‘s possible for the text fill to be an unnamed color and not show in Swatches. If the fill is a Swatch the swatch name will show along with the values, so a Lab fill: Unnamed CMYK fill. Unnamed RGB fill.
Open Photoshop, change all the PNG files to PSD in CMYK mode, replace them in the InDesign document. PNG doesn't support CMYK. Home printers are designed to print RGB files, most can't print CMYK images. The same is not true for commercial print services, especially where spearations may be needed. Select the object or objects you want to change. Click the Fill or Stroke box in the Swatches panel or the Toolbox. (If the Gradient Fill box is not visible, choose Show Options in the Gradient panel menu.) To open the Gradient panel, choose Window > Color > Gradient, or double-click the Gradient tool in the Toolbox.

Images (photos) it is better to use RGB images as PSD, TIFF or JPG depending on the content. PNG do not support CMYK and have only a simple transparency model. The are supposed for web use. JPG are good for Photos without transparency. PSD support transparency, layers and layer composition. Step 1: Pick a color like: 0, 255, 0 in RGB. A color that cannot be printed with CMYK. The underlying color management tries its best and is suggesting 66, 0, 100, 0 for CMYK. Step 2: Set your cursor to any of the CMYK value fields. Note this, the preview color of the green next to the OK button still does not change. .
